BASKETBALL: Award Winners from Highland Holiday Hoopfest

CROWEL COMPANIES LANTERNMAN SUPER HERO OF THE GAME

HIGHLAND VS. GAVIT
Cameron Riley – Gavit. Scored a game high 29 points, including seven three-pointers!

HIGHLAND VS. MUNSTER
Javon Morris – Munster. Led the game with 17 points, hitting three three-pointers.

GRIFFITH VS. LAKE CENTRAL
Corey Landers – Griffith. Put up 13 points, including eight points in the third quarter, when Griffith took over the game. Also grabbed a handful of offensive rebounds.

GRIFFITH VS. SB WASHINGTON
Tim Lawson – Griffith. Led the Panthers to a double overtime win with 25 points and was clutch at the free throw line, hitting all eight of his attempts. Also scored the game winning bucket in double OT.

GRIFFITH VS. MUNSTER
Luka Balac – Munster. The standout sophomore led the championship game in scoring with 22 points.

BEREY BROS. BLUE COLLAR OF THE GAME

HIGHLAND VS. GAVIT
Xavier Arce – Highland. Scored 23 points, playing well after taking a hard foul and scored most of his points in the paint – impressive for a 5’6″ point guard.

HIGHLAND VS. MUNSTER
Tim Giannini – Munster. Played extremely hard all game long, putting his body on the line by diving for loose balls continuously throughout the game.

GRIFFITH VS. LAKE CENTRAL
Michael Kantor – Griffith. Helped shutdown the LC backcourt by playing smothering defense, forcing two five second calls and forced several other turnovers.

GRIFFITH VS. SB WASHINGTON
Kyle Iwinski – Griffith. Battled hard in the paint all night long, taking a couple of charges and grabbing several rebounds.

GRIFFITH VS. MUNSTER
Josh Davis – Munster. Basically lived at the free throw line, drawing enough fouls to take 12 free throw attempts and completed several “and one” plays.

ORTHOPAEDIC SPECIALISTS OF NORTHWEST INDIANA PLAY OF THE GAME

HIGHLAND VS. GAVIT
With Highland holding on to a narrow lead with less than a minute left, Camden Scheidt stood tall and drew a charge which helped the Trojans secure the win!

HIGHLAND VS. MUNSTER
Munster’s Jeremiah Lovett showed off his athletic ability with a pair of beautiful reverse layups in the second half of the big Munster victory!

GRIFFITH VS. LAKE CENTRAL
Saving a ball that was going out of bounds, Tim Lawson of the Griffith Panthers executed a beautiful behind the back pass that led to a Griffith three pointer.

GRIFFITH VS. SB WASHINGTON
Trailing by two with less than two seconds on the clock in the first overtime, Griffith’s Corey Landers sank a pair of free throws, sending the game to double OT, where the Panthers would go on to win.

GRIFFITH VS. MUNSTER
The Mustangs started to run away from Griffith in the fourth quarter thanks to a pair of “and one” plays by Luka Balac and Josh Davis!
