1920 – Race horse Man O’War wins the Lawrence Realization Stakes by 100 lengths, the largest winning margin in modern racing history.

1971 – The first DAC football game is played as Chesterton beats Hobart 13-8.

1991 – The MLB Statistical Accuracy Committee votes to drop the asterisk next to Roger Maris’ 1961 home run record of 61 homers. They also determine that an official no-hitter must go nine innings.

1993 – Penn State University plays in their first game as a member of the Big 10, beating Minnesota 38-20.

1994 – Dolphins quarterback Dan Marino becomes the second player in NFL history to throw 300 career touchdown passes.

1994 – Tom Tupa scores the first two point conversion in NFL history, running in a fake extra point for the Browns.

1995 – White Sox third baseman Robin Ventura hits grand slams in consecutive innings as part of a 14-3 rout of the Rangers.

2002 – Argentina beats the USA 87-80 in the World Basketball Championships in Indianapolis. It is the first time the US lost in international competition since they began using NBA players in 1992, a span of 59 games.

2017 – JD Martinez, then with the Diamondbacks, ties an MLB record by hitting four home runs in a game.
