VIDEO: Morton’s Josh Lamb Signs with Marian

Joshua Mitchell Lamb AKA “Peanut” was born on May 27th, 2003 to John & Alisa Lamb. He spent most of his younger part of his baseball career waiting his turn, with his birthday putting him just below

the age cut off therefore he always had to play down an age group.

That is until 2010 when he moved from Hessville Little League to the Hammond Optimist Bulldogs, where he really took a leap forward hitting a growth spurt and helping lead the Bulldogs to the Regional Championship in 2018. The Bulldogs went on to win 5-4 and move on to represent Hammond at the World Series in Texas, where they placed 5th.

Moving onto his high school career, Josh was a multi-sport athlete playing football as a quarterback and also in swimming. Josh played varsity baseball all four years of high school alongside his older brother Johnny. Josh is the starting catcher and bats 3rd where he currently has a crazy stat line in terms of hitting with 0 strikeouts, 3 walks, and a batting average sitting just below .600 with 14 hits in 25 at bats.

One of Josh’s former coaches,”Rob Garcia” had a few words about Josh. “First & foremost I’d like to congratulate Josh on his accomplishments thus far. I had the privilege of coaching him for a handful of years on the Hammond Bulldogs. Each year I’ve seen his progress and I was impressed. You’re just getting started kid, keep striving & best of luck in your promising future, we’re all proud of you. Go Dogs!

Josh not only gets it done in sports but also in the classroom. His senior year he was awarded All State Academic team for football. He also made the honor roll all 4 years while sustaining a 4.30 GPA. Keeping these grades up paid off for Josh as he was named the Salutatorian of his graduating class.

Josh will continue his academic and collegiate sports career at Marian University in Indianapolis to study and major in Biology.
