1940 – Indiana wins the college basketball national championship, defeating Kansas 60-42.

1976 – Paul Silas becomes the third player in NBA history to record 10,000 career rebounds before scoring 10,000 career points.

1980 – George Gervin of the San Antonio Spurs becomes the fifth player in NBA history to win scoring titles in three consecutive seasons.

1981 – Led by Isaiah Thomas’ 23 points, Indiana defeats North Carolina 63-50 to win the NCAA men’s basketball championship.

1987 – Keith Smart hits a 16-foot jumper late in the game to give Indiana a 74-73 national championship win over Syracuse.

1998 – Kentucky wins their second men’s basketball national championship in three years, defeating Utah 78-69.

2020 – The International Olympic Committee announces that the 2020 Summer Olympics will be postponed to July of 2021.
