1952 – Brooklyn Dodgers pitcher, and Indiana native, Carl Erskine throws a no-hitter against the Cubs.
1955 – Mickey Mantle hits career home run #100.
1985 – Reggie Jackson hits career career home run #513 to move into 10th place all-time.
1986 – Two days after being drafted second overall by the Boston Celtics, Len Bias dies from a cocaine overdose.
1993 – The Merrillville Pirates softball team wins a state championship by beating Western 5-1.
1999 – The Dallas Stars beat the Buffalo Sabres 2-1 in triple overtime to win the Stanley Cup.
2000 – The Lakers beat the Pacers in six games to win the NBA title.
2006 – The Carolina Hurricanes win their first Stanley Cup, beating the Calgary Flames in game seven.
2016 – The Cleveland Cavaliers beat the Golden State Warriors in game seven to win their first NBA title.
