1994 – MLB players vote to strike, beginning on August 12.
1994 – Texas Rangers pitcher Kenny Rogers throws a perfect game, shutting down the Angels.
1996 – Darryl Strawberry hits career home run #300.
2009 – White Sox pitcher Mark Buehrle sets an MLB record by retiring 45 straight batters. In his previous start, Buehrle threw a perfect game against the Rays and on his July 28 start, he retired the first 17 Twins hitters he faced.
