1875 – Harvard and Yale play in the first college football game to feature the team wearing uniforms.

1964 – Bob Pettit of the St. Louis Hawks becomes the first player in NBA history to score 20,000 career points.

1982 – The University of Alabama football team loses at home for the first time since 1963, falling to Southern Miss 38-29. The Crimson Tide had a 57 game home winning streak coming into the contest.

1987 – The Highland Trojans football team wins the only Regional title in program history to date, defeating Valpo 42-15.

1990 – Magic Johnson becomes the second guard in NBA history, after Oscar Robertson, to record 9,000 career assists.

1992 – Riddick Bowe wins the world heavyweight boxing title by beating Evander Holyfield via unanimous decision.

1999 – University of Wisconsin running back Ron Dayne sets the NCAA Division I rushing record by reaching 6,397 career yards.

1999 – Lennox Lewis becomes the undisputed world heavyweight champion, defeating Evander Holyfield in a bout in Las Vegas.

2016 – San Diego Chargers QB Philip Rivers becomes the ninth passer in NFL history to throw 300 career touchdowns.
