1911 – Ty Cobb (American League) and Frank Schulte (National League) are the first ever MLB MVPs. Each is awarded a car.

1980 – The Dallas Mavericks play in their first ever game, defeating the San Antonio Spurs 103-92.

1992 – Deion Sanders plays for the Falcons in a game against Miami and then flies to Pittsburgh to suit up for the Braves in the NLCS against the Pirates. He does not appear in the baseball game.

2009 – Arizona Cardinals quarterback Kurt Warner throws for 301 yards in a win over Houston. It is Warner’s 50th career 300 yard outing in his 113th game, making him the fastest to reach that mark, breaking Dan Marino’s previous record of 176 games.

2010 – Minnesota Vikings QB Brett Favre becomes the first player in NFL history to throw for 500 career touchdowns along with 70,000 career yards.

2020 – The Lakers beat the Miami Heat 106-93 to win the NBA championship in the “COVID Bubble”. LeBron James is named Finals MVP, making him the first player to win the award with three franchises.
