1933 – Cliff Battles of the Boston Redskins becomes the first player in NFL history to run for more than 200 yards in a game as he picked up 215 yards on the ground in a 21-20 win over the Giants.

1956 – Don Larsen throws a perfect game as the Yankees beat the Dodgers 2-0 in Game #5 of the World Series.

1957 – The Brooklyn Dodgers announce that they are moving to Los Angeles.

1959 – The Dodgers beat the White Sox in Game #6 to win the World Series.

1982 – The New Jersey Devils get their first win as a franchise, beating the New York Rangers, 3-2. 

1995 – Dolphins QB Dan Marino sets the record for career pass completions, breaking the mark set by Fran Tarkenton. 

2018 – Saints QB Drew Brees becomes the NFL’s all-time leader in passing yards, breaking Peyton Manning’s record.

2018 – Brock Holt of the Boston Red Sox becomes the first player in MLB history to hit for the cycle in the post-season.
