1933 – The Chicago Blackhawks forfeit a game after the team refuses to return to the ice following the ejection of coach Tom Gorman. The Bruins, who lead 3-2 at the team, are credited with a 1-0 victory.

1954 – The Baltimore Bullets fall on the road at Milwaukee, giving them their 20^th consecutive road loss. They are the only team in NBA history to go a full season without winning a road game.

1954 – Hank Aaron appears in his first exhibition game for the Braves. He homers.

1962 – “Mr. Hockey” Gordie Howe becomes the second player in NHL history to score 500 career goals.

1967 – The Baltimore Colts select Michigan State’s Bubba Smith with the first pick in the NFL Draft.

1972 – The NBA’s Cincinnati Royals announce that they are moving to Kansas City.

1997 – Pittsburgh Penguins forward Joey Mullen becomes the first American-born NHL player to score 500 career goals.

1998 – Harvard becomes the first 16 seed to win an NCAA basketball tournament game, as the Harvard women defeat Stanford 71-67.
