1971 – The Baltimore Colts beat the Dallas Cowboys 16-13 to win Super Bowl V. Despite losing, Dallas LB Chuck Howley is named MVP.
1988 – Cleveland Browns fans’ hearts are broken with “The Fumble”. Playing in the AFC championship at Denver, Browns running back Earnest Byner fumbles the ball on the Denver three yard line with 1:12 left, giving Denver a 38-33 win.
1995 – The Los Angeles Rams announce they are moving to St. Louis.
1996 – Detroit Red Wings center Steve Yzerman scores his 500th career goal.
1997 – Dennis Rodman is suspended indefinitely by the NBA after kicking a cameraman.
2012 – LeBron James becomes the youngest player in NBA history to score 20,000 career points.
