1943 – Bears quarterback Sid Luckman throws seven touchdowns in a game against the Giants, setting an NFL record.

1947 – The EC Roosevelt football team wins their 31^st consecutive game, beating SB Washington 15-0.

1964 – Gordie Howe of the Detroit Red Wings becomes the NHL’s all-time leading goal scorer with 627 career goals.

1969 – The Andrean 59ers football team finishes a second straight undefeated season, beating Morton 16-6.

1970 – A plane crash in West Virginia kills 75 people, including 37 members of the Marshall University football team and coaching staff.

1993 – The Miami Dolphins beat the Eagles 19-14, giving coach Don Shula his 325^th career win, the most in NFL history.

1997 – The Griffith Panthers football team avenges their only regular season loss by beating Hobart 35-21 in the Regionals.
