1964 – The Braves ask the National League for permission to move from Milwaukee to Atlanta.
1972 – A day after setting an NBA record by scoring 58 points in a quarter, the Buffalo Braves set another NBA record. This time it’s the record for fewest points in a quarter as they only score four points in the third quarter of a loss to the Bucks.
1973 – Fred Dryer of the Los Angeles Rams becomes the first player in NFL history to record two safeties in one game.
1975 – Red Sox catcher Carlton Fisk famously “waves” his 12th inning home run fair, giving Boston a 7-6 win over the Reds in game six of the World Series, forcing a seventh game.
1976 – The New York Knicks retire Willis Reed’s #19.
1979 – Bulls guard Sam Smith records the first four point play in NBA history.
2007 – Tennessee Titans kicker Rob Bironas sets an NFL record by making eight field goals in one game.
