1901 – Cleveland pitcher Earl Moore throws a nine inning no-hitter against the White Sox, but loses 4-2 in 10 innings.

1984 – In a game that started on May 7, the White Sox finally beat the Brewers 7-6 in 25 innings.

1987 – Orioles slugger Eddie Murray becomes the first player in MLB history to hit switch hit home runs in consecutive games.

1989 – In the same game, Mets shortstop Kevin Elster commits his first error in 88 games and Mets catcher Rick Cerone commits his first error in 159 games.

2001 – 129 Ghanian soccer fans die in a stampede at Accra Sports Stadium. The stampede started after police fired tear gas into the crowd following a controversial decision by a referee during the match.

2006 – Joffrey Lupul of the Anaheim Ducks becomes the first player in NHL playoff history to cap a four goal game with an overtime winner as the Ducks defeated Colorado 4-3.

2010 – Oakland A’s pitcher Dallas Braden throws the 19th perfect game in MLB history, shutting down the Tampa Bay Rays.
