1942 – Joe Louis knocks out Abe Simon in the sixth round to retain his world heavyweight title.
1945 – Oklahoma A&M wins the NCAA men’s basketball tournament, beating NYU 49-45 in the championship.
1960 – The Boston Celtics set an NBA Finals record by scoring 76 points in the first half of a win over the St. Louis Hawks.
1971 – UCLA wins their fifth college basketball title, beating Villanova 68-62.
1998 – The Bulls and Atlanta Hawks play in a game at the Georgia Dome in front of 62,046 fans, the largest crowd in NBA history.
2017 – The UCONN women’s basketball team advances to their 10th straight Final Four, defeating Oregon 90-52. With the win, Huskies coach Geno Auriemma passes Pat Summitt for most NCAA Tournament victories with 113.
