1991 – BYU quarterback Ty Detmer sets an NCAA record by passing for 11,606 career yards.
1992 – Bud Selig is appointed as interim Commissioner of MLB. He would not officially become the full time Commissioner until 1998.
1993 – Mark Whiten of the St. Louis Cardinals hits four home runs and drive in 12 runs in a 15-2 win over the Reds. He’s the first player in MLB history to accomplish both feats in the same game.
1996 – Mike Tyson defeats Bruce Seldon for the WBA heavyweight championship in just 96 seconds.
