1970 – LSU’s Pete Maravich becomes the first player in college basketball history to score 3,000 career points.
1977 – Toronto’s Ian Turnull sets an NHL record for defensemen by scoring five goals in a game.
1994 – Atlanta Hawks coach Lenny Wilkens picks up career victory #900.
1997 – Scotty Bowman becomes the first coach in NHL history to win 1,000 career games.
2012 – Edmonton’s Sam Gagner scores four goals and dishes out four assists giving him the NHL’s first eight point game in 23 years.
2014 – The Seattle Seahawks rout the Denver Broncos 42-8 to win Super Bowl XLVIII. Seattle linebacker Malcolm Smith is named MVP.
