SOFTBALL: Four Seasons Mechanical Top 10 for 4/26/18

#10.
LACROSSE TIGERS
8-1

LAST WEEK: #10

The Porter County Conference is having a great year and the Tigers of LaPorte County are one of the reasons why, as are today’s opponent, also from LaPorte County, the South Central Satelites. With both teams coming in at 8-1 overall, this should be a good one. The two games still to come with Morgan Twp. also loom large on the PCC horizon.

#9.
BOONE GROVE WOLVES
5-1

LAST WEEK: #7

A big game with KV is on tap for this afternoon and the Lady Wolves can send a message to their potential Class 2A tournament opponents with a win down on the Farm. After that, only two games remain with fellow Top 10ers – Crown Point on May 5 and the Lady Stangs on the 16th. A conference with clash with 8-1 South Central is also coming up.

#8.
MORGAN TWP. CHEROKEES
8-1

LAST WEEK: NR

The Cherokee people have a lot to be excited about, including a possible Porter County Conference championship. The two games with LaCrosse could decide who gets to the claim the league title. If it comes down to that, maybe we should call it LaPorte County Conference.

#7.

HIGHLAND TROJANS
7-5

LAST WEEK: #8

The Trojan bats are starting to heat up and that’s a good thing because the schedule gets a lot tougher the next couple of weeks. Jaime Gessler is having a break out year in the leadoff spot and the return of Carley Ramirez to the three hole after knee surgery has helped to bolster the offense as well. If they can start to find ways not to lose winnable games, this team has a chance to repeat…and then some.

#6.
LOWELL RED DEVILS
6-2

LAST WEEK: #6

The ladies from Lowell have some big wins this season – namely over Munster and KV. The problem is they’ve had some rather large losses as well, including scores of 11-1 and 10-0. They’ll need to eliminate the blowout losses if they want to reach the Top 5. Games still on the schedule include Highland today, Munster next week and Crown Point to close out the regular season.

#5.

KV KOUGARS
8-2

LAST WEEK: #2

The Kougars aren’t currently playing at the level most of us are accustomed to, but don’t sell them short – if this team gets healthy, they’ll be the same old KV. Games with Boone Grove today and at Munster tomorrow will test the mettle of the Lady Ks.

#4.
CHESTERTON TROJANS
11-3

LAST WEEK: #4

The once #1 Trojans have beaten everyone on their schedule not named Crown Point or Lake Central, neither of which is in their sectional. Looking ahead, road trips to Valpo, Highland and Munster remain.

#3.
MUNSTER MUSTANGS
8-2

LAST WEEK: #5

The Lady Stangs’ win at KV was an eye opener for many. They’ll get a chance to sweep the season series on Friday when KV comes north for conference clash at Community Park. Then comes Crown Point and Lowell. Could this team be #1 in a week? It’s not out of the question.

#2.
LAKE CENTRAL INDIANS
13-2

LAST WEEK: #1

The Indians dropped one to Crown Town and as a result drop from the top spot. They’ll get a shot next week to even the score with the Bulldogs, who come to St. John on the first of May. One versus two – does it get any better?

#1.
CROWN POINT BULLDOGS
10-1

LAST WEEK: #3

The Lady Dogs got the best of LC in the first of two regular season meetings, with an impressive late game offensive outburst being the difference. If they can keep that kind of production going, Pete Iussig’s team will be tough to dethrone. Four games with current Top 10 teams remain, including Munster, Lake Central, KV and Boone Grove.
